These colorful cables are a lot easier to knit than they appear. Learn the simple trick to create cables that pop by watching the video or following the photo tutorial below. To practice these skills you can scroll down for a swatch pattern. Looking forward to creating a shawl with stunning cables that pop? Scroll to the bottom of this post for pics and links to patterns.
Do you prefer a photo and written tutorial? I've got you covered. :) The basic concepts of the two color cables that pop are alternating colors every 2 rows and slipping the cable stitches when they are in the non cable color.
Begin on a right side cable row.
Step 1- With yarn held in back, insert the right needle purlwise into the cable stitches to be slipped on the left needle.
Step 2- Slip the stitches from the left needle to the right needle, with the yarn held in back. Continue to work the right side row according to the pattern.
Step 3- On the wrong side row repeat steps 1 and 2 with the yarn held in the front instead of the back.
Once you have the hang of slipping stitches there is one more detail to master this technique. Stretch the slipped stitches a bit after slipping them to make sure they are not being gathered in.
To practice this technique:
